Pro life or Pro Choice

Standard

I have been thinking about how split our country is over the issues of life.  I want to preface this by giving a scenario.  While I am sure that the Pope would love everyone to become Catholic he knows that everyone isn’t. The Catholic Church even accepts its parishioners to attend Orthodox and Episcopal services if I remember correctly.  To take that further while The Catholic  Church may not accept other denominations of  Christianity it still likes the fact you have chosen Christianity.  Moreover,  Christians accept Judaism even though they don’t accept Jesus.  Christians respect Judaism otherwise we would be making the same mistakes of the Holocaust.  So we remember the ethic cleansing of Hitler’s was bad, so we learned to accept all religions including Islam, Hindu, and Bhuddism.  While we hope they may convert to one or the other we still understand there will always be different religions just as much as people are different.

Now America has always been a mixed salad of different cultures and religions.  Years ago we learned that banning interracial marriage was stupid “How dare an English person marry a Spaniard!” To even quote this ridiculous statement seems horrible.  Now we have interracial marriage and people didn’t approve of it back then.  So we as a country has embraced interracial marriage as a regular event, blended families are everywhere.

So why can’t we accept the right to choose.

Consider this radical thought process. In the past we also didn’t accept pre marital sex though we knew it was happening.  We even called children born out of wedlock “bastards” they were actually shunned, blacklisted for not having parents who were married.  We realized that a person isn’t bad just because their parents weren’t married.  In fact, so many people were divorcing and having sex out of marriage so long went practicing Catholicism and other Christian denominations were born.  So many adults were having consensual sex in and out of marriage birth control was invented.  People didn’t want large families or have a baby when they weren’t ready and they certainly didn’t want hidden abortions we have all seen Dirty Dancing, those type of abortions really did occur.  We love our birth control and are even trying a pill for men.  It was all a persons choice, even the Catholic Church has become a little lax on birth control.  So why don’t people respect the right for different religions stance on pro choice?

While I believe every life is beautiful and believe me I even avoid killing insects when I can. In fact, I even taught special ed for several years so I know how wonderful people with disabilities are and without the technology we have today we wouldn’t have discovered the mastermind of Stephen Hawking.  Yes, every living being is gorgeous in every respect.  Though I also understand that as a woman turns older she is more prone to having a child with a disability.  So whether you take birth control because you don’t want to have children in your forties for maybe too large of a family, you feel done raising children or for whatever reason you have, including maybe you know you would be a bad parent and resent having the child, the world knows people are having sex in and out wedlock and demanded birth control as a result.  Science listened and gave people the right to choose.  For we know sometimes people make mistakes and forget or it breaks and the morning after pill was developed as a precautionary measure.  Allow people to choose it is their right just as choosing a religion or denomination of Christianity is your right.

This Election

Standard

The last presidential election I was very vague about who I wanted to be president because I believe in people making informed choices for who they wanted in office based upon their own moral and ethical values.  I still believe that and because regardless of what is occurring in my life, it is important to rehmember to stick with the idea: be kind, honest, generous and always treat others with respect.  It is no surprise I have been going through a rough patch trying to maintain a smile despite the events around me.  Last week was the first time in a long time a person came up to me, asked me a question and I didn’t think they had an another motive.  Stay positive without expecting anything has been my go to thought. This is the result when time after time it feels I make a plan, make a goal only to see them tore down due to external circumstances.  So again, I find myself making it through a maze of walls. So when I vote for a leader, I vote for one that has gone through the struggle of everyday life and still succeeds.  One who will keep the USA out of conflict, out of debt, out of sickness, and out of hungar.  I choose to remain confident that one day this country will see its troubles disappear by being a model of respect and honesty for the country it governs.  I want that so our country can maintain its status as the leader, trend setter and model for all other nations in the world, regardless of any challenge our country faces now.

George Washington was voted for because he brought our countries freedom, Lincoln was voted for because he believed in the abolitionist movement, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was voted for because he would bring social security and jobs to those deep in the Great Depression.  In these times when people weren’t doing well they voted for the person that would bring them out of their troubles.  So whether you feel we are doing not so well or well, regardless of your chosen party VOTE for the one who you know is going to bring you out of the troubles you have been facing.  VOTE for your and our countries future.

Don’t Be Afraid

Standard

They happened upon a road, several of them oh so different for a regular Sunday evening drive.  He thought it would be just a few minutes maybe twenty at most,  he needed some flour.  Just a little bit more for the bread he was making.  Sandwiches always seemed more tastier with his own bread, softer, fresher and as thick as he wanted it.  Though what was holding them, him and several of the other cars on the roadway, what was holding them up?  Soon engines stopped idling and he could see the people getting out of their cars.  They weren’t in a rush they slowly got out following the motions of the people in front of them.  Sounds were barely audible, conversations weren’t even occurring just people getting out of their cars almost tip toeing.  He did the same opening his door slowly and walking carefully down the street. No one seemed scared that was the weird thing, it was just curiosity what do we have to behold?  Then it came into view a large almost glowing animal a black  light couldn’t achieve the splendor of its fur coat and its glistening horn.  There it was a unicorn.  A mythical beast no more but living and here right before him and all these others.  It had come back to bring good a sign that soon everything will be bountiful.

The Past, Present, and Future

I moved to New York because it was the land of opportunity and simply I like living in the city. I have always been fond of trying new things. I left my hometown for the major reason that my family was getting along and they didn’t need me, that is why I felt comfortable leaving.  Though sometimes I wonder about them and how they are doing.  Eventually I thought of coming back but New York has made me a slave to its culture, the thought you can get anything at any time.  I loved and still do love Seattle, it breathes out of every part of me but loneliness grew of not having a husband or the ability to advance my career in the direction I wanted.  After a few years here I am still not where I want to be.  What is to become of me, has already been planned, I just have to find out when it arrives.

Millennials Technology

Standard

I have been around awhile, some people may even call me old.  Millennials that I am surrounded by grew up with technology.  They know it’s ins and outs and think nothing of it’s power for to them it is like a light bulb you can’t imagine life without it.  So when something new comes, the latest upgrade is necessary at all costs.  Though they don’t understand that it may not be thoroughly tested and know the bugs that arrive with the latest app, or how that may affect something or someone.  Think of drones, they have had a few mistakes before being able to be widely used or accurate in their delivery.  I remember the first self locking car, it could unlock any car with the same frequency not just one car your car.  That is like having a key to every house in the neighborhood, might as well not have locks then if everyone or even one person can get in all the houses.  Where is the privacy?  The sense of safety?  I know my stuff is safe because I know everyone who has access to it, but do you really?  Do you really know, with technology someone could be unlocking your things from next door or miles away, if they had the right codes and you wouldn’t even know it.  Though I guess for a millennial it doesn’t matter because sharing things with others is natural, every detail even possibly what underwear they are wearing that day.  It can be controlled right? Well remember technology is so sneaky that you may not even know and that #*%hole down the way could be the one with all your information putting it online under unusual names or simply leaving your home unlocked to anyone around. Good thing we know who has access to our computer, right millennials? or do we? because remember anyone at anytime is developing new controlling apps, including %^+hole 1 or #%^hole 2.

Crazy

Standard

I have been crazy all my life.

Crazy to think that people think of others just as much as they think of themselves.

Crazy believing that people like the world we live in and understand we need to protect the environment and there is global warming.

Crazy to say war is bad.

Crazy to have integrity in which that is what is said in front of one person is still followed through even when they are not there.

Crazy to love someone you don’t even know just because they are a living human being.

Crazy to stand up for injustice even in my own family.

Crazy to try to eat more fruits and vegetables in my diet and believing fries do not count as a salad.

Crazy to write when no one cares to read.

Crazy to have hope.

If these things are crazy then, yes I am crazy.

Implied

Standard

So many people talking about things, saying this and that but never what they really mean.  Implied, I am supposed to understand implied?  However, I to ask is a no, no basically to the thought that I can’t ever talk about it.  Well you know what when it comes to dispelling rumors, I’ll tell what’s on my mind and what really occurred.  People have hated that about me.  I do try to ease it with some humor but honey I will tell you my side of the story and how I feel.

Blue, Purple and Red

Standard

Yesterday, I went to an art store looking for supplies for writing letters and all that was available in the clearance section were blue, purple and red calligraphy pens.  Now I don’t have much money as you can tell by me doing most of my shopping in the clearance bins but based on what I saw I thought I might be able be able to, obviously I was a little indecisive because of my limited choices but maybe if I had all the right materials.  Turns out to make all the cards I wanted and the pens to write them with it became more than I could afford.  It was like The Gift of the Magi one does not go without the other.  Though after careful thought if I had a few of each, I had a start.  When I got home I thought how does blue, purple, and red go with Christmas?

Morning came and I opened the Bible, yes I actually read the Bible.

Now I know I may have lost some readers at this point but you never know the next short paragraph might be interesting give it a read.

Anyways, I read the Old Testament or as some people who are Jewish refer to it as the Torah and the random page I first turn to is a page talking about temple decoration.  In reading this chapter what colors do they use?  They used blue, purple and scarlet.  Some may find this surprising but to me this occurs a lot. So is it coincidence maybe, but I am not taking my chances I am going to send out at least one Christmas card with blue, purple and scarlet.

What is next?

Standard

Maybe it is not my place to say this  or assume at all that people would like to get to know me.  However,  I know some would like for me to love them, be their best friend, just simply spend time, maybe even join them watching TV. If I could spend time with everyone of you believe me I would find a way.  That all is decided on one thing who really wants me beside them and to the extent of the relationship they want.  It makes no sense if one is trying to put a magnet on glass or plastic, the people have to connect somehow, especially emotionally on the same level and it can’t be manipulated either. We all know what happens when things are made on unstable foundations, it just doesn’t work. That is why the next steps in any relationship must be done together.
