Fight or Flight

Standard

circumstances unravel
from situations
unknown in context
fight or flight
are responses
of choice
resulting from fear
are these really
natural instincts
can we train
ourselves for
other modes
of reaction
dealing with
extreme scenarios
something helpful
to the entire world
or is it just
fight or flight

Funhouse

Standard

worldly avenues streaming
along similar directions
breaking intersections
of knowledge
as what is encountered
is mirrored in a way
funhouse mirages
tangle images
into distorted
versions of actualities
many continue
to hold onto
even after
they have left

-Jennie Nawrocki

Pressure

Standard

never possessed
abilities of persuasion
turning around
someones thoughts
to an opinion
transferred from
research, inquiry
all out investigation
those conclusions
based on manipulation
of circumstances
delighted all
in their revelations
of made up lies
for this must happen
in any way possible
using precise wording
gave the ability
to know
continued pressure
would break
anything in their path

Shoes

Standard

a protective layer between
the thick skinned surface
facing upside down
towards the street top
walking as we intend
for there ahead reveals
our place of arrival
steps away
from where we began
in shoes of
man-made leather
possibly thigh high
or extremely thin
with a rubber soul
and a strip of fabric
stitched between toes
slipped on to fit
its style
adds to the outfit
and the comfort
adds to the walk

Reverence

Standard

together seamlessly
bonded with friendship
mutual respect
for one another
combines personalities
for reverent
entertaining media
which busts guts
of anger
into a world
of extreme
neurological enjoyment

-Jennie Nawrocki

The Path

Standard

I saw the rivers flow freely
down the valley and farther

I saw the mountains disappear of height
as we walked towards the summit

I saw endless trees, forests thick
blocking panoramic views

I saw animals of plenty
stay the distance
in fear of the gazer

I saw insects scurrying
towards crevices so small

I saw the wind carry leaves
for unknown destinations

I saw a path
to take me home

Processes

Standard

the thought process
befuddles even
brilliant minds
for scholars
and philosophers
come up with ideas
identifying egos
and consciousnesses alike
though really they
give a name
to something that
connects synapses
traveling in the brain
for these identifiers
haven’t explained
thoroughly between
decisions of
no, this is wrong
yes, this is right
and their
actions following
