Away

Standard

A mind can play tricks
you may see only what you want
most pain is avoided
unless that is all you know
then it becomes a sadistic comfort
does it have to stay this way?

Good rolls around
you try and hold its existence
quickly it passes though
it was just enough
to see the misfortune you lived.

There is no going back
nor immersion of its surroundings
just the motions guiding the way
slowly gathering
pieces, materials, resources, knowledge
solidifying a base
sturdy with positive relationships
supporting initializing
the momentum of growth
outlining the course for the future.

Forgiveness

Standard

I forgave
because I understand the other perspective
I forgave
  after an apology
I forgave
  for we talked openly
I forgave
  when it was sincere
I forgave
  because I was ignorant
I forgave
  because I was asked
I forgave
  to stop the hate
I forgave
  because I am human

Worry Wart

Standard

Will I be liked?
Am I helping the environment?
Will I pass this test?
Can I pay the bills?
I don’t know if this is a good idea?
A car is coming into this lane?
Is this going to break?
Did I make enough food?
Is there time to….?
Am I a good son/daughter/parent, etc?
Is this presentation good?
I hope they like the present?
Is it the right color?
Do I pray enough?
Did I offend them?
Should I bring….?
What’s that noise?
Will the president help our country?
Did I turn off the stove?
Does my boss like me?
Will this medicine make me sick or die?
Am I boring?
Did I get that right?
What if my identity gets stolen?
Did I make a good impression?

I forgot to ask….am I a worry wart?

Not sure

Standard

I am no longer a person but an object to be coerced
but you don’t care

I ask one thing but you do another
but you don’t care

Driven me to insanity
but you don’t care

I have lost respect for you
but you don’t care

I speak though you never listen
but you don’t care

You disregard any love I have for you
but you don’t care

You hold relationships hostel
but you don’t care

Every effort I make towards good
you don’t care

Why should I?

Sustainable

Standard

A world without forced control
or manipulated scenarios
enlivens personal trust
Based on common sense
respectful relationships
compassionate interactions
acceptance of differences
empathy for mistakes
Never a dream
but a reality to sustain.

Sabotage

Standard

There is a world hidden
it all seems so far away
people and places out of reach
barring communication
pride, dignity, greed is the fight
fueling one’s discontent
from every aspect
excluding the one thing they wish
results damage the efforts towards
a greater relationship
allowing enhanced bonds
leaving emotional waste behind

-Jennie Nawrocki

Arrgh

Standard

The drop slides across the upturn mouth
feelings churning produce emotions surfacing
as facades fade exposing only steam of an embittered body.

Sad that no one would believe the truth
only a minority had faith
the others followed
for they didn’t want the same fate
ostracized from the masses

The game had to be played everyone has a role
even the unwittingly were caught in the net

Seeing spear after spear thrown til blood appears
repeatedly puncturing the corpse
vapors of life dissipated
the game had to be played

It’s moral, it’s just
pulling nets and expelling daggers of death
keep going there must be more
something more, more
greed of victory was all they really wanted

The seas decimated nothing left to catch
let’s see the reward

Net after net unraveled
Where’s the bounty?
dispersed daggers of sweat were clean of the flesh
Where’s the bounty?

Push, pull there must be something
nope, nothing

only their reflection shining
in the stolen drops of water
running from an assumed home.

Game over.

Remember

Dreams of plenty have come and gone,
many have yet to respond.
Sorrow lasted many nights,
but not without a fight.
Love occurs with a fever,
hopefully more than just a murmur.
Hope remains in the lead,
no longer will despair bleed.
