Family

Standard

cause the ups and downs

ease the pain

Build you up

Never be around

Always being there

Make decisions complex

Be only one choice

Ask no questions

Ask all the questions

Scream and yell

Whisper and silent

Talk about nothing

Hammer out the issues

Born with them

By your side as you go

They are your ties

Strong or weak

But they are family

And worth every minute

-Jennie Nawrocki

Boundaries

Standard

To be loved

Is a gift

Of reciprocity

By earning respect

Both helping

Both supporting

Emotionally

Or physically

Without consciousness

Could be leader

Giving confidence

Strength by modeling

With speech and demeanor

Or with consciousness

a call, a visit, a note

Building smiles, laughter

And especially safety

Of your space, your boundaries

never being crossed

Without your permission

That is love

That is trust

That is respect

You gave

And received

Together

-Jennie Nawrocki

Let Love In

Standard

Who you love

Some say

Is a match

A completion

an opposite

Right away

Or grew stronger

However it occurs

Don’t squash it

Accept it

And accept others

For love doesn’t

Come uniform

Love comes

How you

Need it

How you

Nurture it

How you

Respect it

Love everywhere

Just love the way

That you are

Born to love.

-Jennie Nawrocki

Better Together

Standard

Seriously did you ever

Find that sometimes

Just one ingredient

Can change

Or transform

An entire dish

Chocolate and peanut butter

Burger and cheese

Fries and ketchup

Coffee and sugar

Cinnamon and sugar

Salt and pepper

Toast and butter

Grapefruit and sugar

Rum and coke

Many of these items

Are good on their own

But it is

The combination

That makes them

Needed

So you may be the best

By yourself

But you are always better

As part of a team

So celebrate your

Team

By saying

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love Remains

Standard

together we stood
barely apart
interacting knowingly
on the same level
as we never have before
seeing that briefly
a taste of intimacy
only intensifies
the need to have more
similar experiences
for returning
again instills
love remains

-Jennie Nawrocki

Love is everywhere

Standard

the greatest feeling
is not easy
giving so much
events happen
challenging its strength
ruining bodies
fail at understanding
essential functioning
ingrained in each of us
enabling people to live
amongst daily mishaps
it’s the fairy dust for peter pan’s flight
Mother Theresa’s endless energy
Rosa Parks saying no
Dali Lama’s ultimate compassion
or simply a grandpa being around
written about for centuries
doted upon, wished for
searched among the far wilds

love is everywhere

shared in minuscule ways
or shown for all to see
search and rescues don’t aide
a waste of effort and resources
the only place to view
closed from the knives of hatred
radiating inside to out
connecting brain synapses
for ultimate functioning
the greatest feeling

love is everywhere

-Jennie Nawrocki

Love

Standard

love has no definition however its boundaries can be broken.
found everywhere for everyone but yet it is not always felt.
to have it, see it, feel it can cause
years of searching for love without gain.

when found

build for day to day moments of memories
encompassed with passion towards a continued connection
simply existing together rewards the sorrow of mistakes
find meaning in the truth love has no definition.
A poem explained:
I used to think romance was something out of a fairy tale. I never believed it was always the everyday gestures of sentiment that really show love. I may not have love but I am seeing more and more through talking with couples that have been together over 30 years how they stay together. It really ain’t a piece of cake and they will tell you that, but it is also a give and take but most important it is a commitment, a promise to sticking with each other. In other words who is going to be that person that takes the middle seat in an airplane.

Discovering Love

Standard

Beautiful the possibilities
Bulging with promise
Beginning to partake in its bounties

Piece by piece explored
Picked for its explosions
Portrayed with eagerness playfully

Spinning in another direction
Spoiled from disappointment
Somebody say you’re sorry

Try again to gain
Turbulant vocal gushes
Toppling into turmoil

What’s left?
Words of loathing
Withdraw from the waste

Look within
Leaving to clear the window
Live only to love.

From Fantasy to Reality

Standard

the fantasy of love is
rainbows wrapped in cotton candy
finding magical unicorns
romance in moonbeams
a dozen red roses ten times over
knights in shiny armor
buggy rides through the city lights
running amongst wildflowers
strolls to the beach
your dreamy happy ending
all are fireworks to explode

uncovering the realities of love is
picking up laundry soap after a long day
listening to the same story over and over again
being with someone when they don’t want to talk
cooking a dish you despise because they like it
playing cards with someone who isn’t in for the win
making a person laugh that is angry, sad, or happy
knowing when to let go
painting a wall again because it was a shade off
waiting at the DMV together
sews together the hidden truth of relationships

-Jennie Nawrocki

Never

Standard

I never imagined you would let me down
I never believed my trust would dissipate
I never thought you would put words into anothers mouth
I never wanted to stray from your love

Never Say Never

I never felt my heart explode
I never cried in public
I never had sadness or disappointment rule
I never knew evil wins over good

Never Say Never

I never pondered I would be a card catalog for communication
I never saw so many people say two different things
I never viewed a photo as a weapon
I never understood how when I said “stop” you took it as a yes

Never Say Never

I never stuck through the hardships of love
I never sought the comfort of another untainted with fear
I never participated in sharing emotions with no judgement
I never was open to be vulnerable enough for love

Never Say Never

-Jennie Nawrocki
