underneath the towers
shadowing sidewalks
their pavement
rocky by nature
is just the surface
of a world underneath
dirt and insects
their cover protects
from most elements
though they have been
pushed aside
dug out of existence
as walls are made
preventing their entrance
within a system
of steel rails
ensuring their webs
catch stragglers
attempt to get out
for the smoothness
of the passage
among those that went
underneath the towers
