covering the floor
in amaze of trees
blocking the sky
faintly telling
whether it is day or night
mist surrounding
hiding sporadic sounds
each step brings deeper
knowledge of the environment
only some senses grasp
remembering images past
without quite adapting
progress stagnates
until footing
gathers insight
for a new world unexplored
