Imaginations

Standard

imaginations, dreams
capture our emotions
turning things
in ways we think
they ought to be
fighting reality
or burying feelings
causing us pain
as a way to
embellish those
past experiences
bringing our world
into a fairytale
world of happiness
for everybody
to enjoy

A Sandwich

Standard

a slice of bread
toasted or non
a fluff of nutrition
or seeded and whole
is slathered
with condiments
on the inside
soon though covered
with the main ingredients
depending on preferences
of the day or mood
they too are found
completely covered
as the finishing step
with a second
slice of bread

Bits and Pieces

Standard

there it is
surrounding me
remnants of
daily activities
in piles around
continue with
the next items
until spread
leaving their
legacy of interaction
it bits and pieces
until there
you have it
a mess so huge
you don’t know
where to start
sorting it through

Anger

Standard

it’s not something
that we want
for it prevents
proper communication
as bodies build
with frustration
culminating in anger
making red
the once pale skin
scrunched face
and tight muscles
yelling nasties
only to find
the receiver
is unaware
for they didn’t
listen to the
warning signs
ahead of time

Befuddled

Standard

this, that
and the other
combined in
chaos around
befuddles the mind
into an arrangement
of piles
unable to sort
clean and clear
as they overlap
entangled webs
wanted for versatility
in functionality
for exposure
amongst a heavy
rotation is
supports us all

The Seed

Standard

a simple seed
found inside fruit
hard in exterior
protecting vital
elements of the
next generation inside
they are carefully
placed in a
particular sequence
remembering depth
soil nutrition
and the amounts
of sun and rain
will arrive
to have them
slowly sprout
becoming plants
bearing the same fruit
ready for harvest
after caring
ever so gently
for one small seed

Animals

Standard

adorable as it lives
the way we do
enjoying company
of others
such as itself
creating families
while building communities
though each person
may have had a glimpse
of their world
wild and free
or caged for entertainment
others envision opportunity
certain species
become workers
or are raised
for one day
to be gathered
from the field
eventually ending up
skinned and divided
for prime cuts
so the only thing
seen on the plate
is nothing resembling
those which lived
the world like us
such a short while ago

A Rainy Night

Standard

the street
glistens from rain
as drops
shine in the light
golden tones
illuminate night
consuming day
separated in
exact distances
one after another
the stillness
fostering vision
a way forward
with your back
to the past
each step
edged as it were
there is
only one
merry way

True Honesty

Standard

something heard
several times
sticking with you
even when
its strength
of character
is shattered
amongst backdrops
of supported
phrases that
further say
this is the meaning
there is never
another thought
to continue
that builds
true honesty

Mystery

Standard

it’s a mystery
there stood
a man behind
soft facial features
scruffy with a long
and dense beard
also a woman
with dark gold
straight hair
cold was the air
what time is it
silently waiting
people add to lines
only a few words
what time is it
when the coat disappeared
and all that was left
were minutes
frozen forever
revealing bare arms
showing no sign
that maybe
something else
unknown, unseen
could solve the mystery
though most of
all said was
what time is it
