Pizza

Standard

given in
sumptuous the taste
enlivening sensory
beads of the tongue
one bite
was all I needed
of this triangular
masterpiece swarming
with cheese, tomato sauce
on top of succulent dough
satisfying every wish made
hunger provides
within that single slice
of hot pizza

Daisies

Standard

a rose so delicate
fragile are its petals
guarded with daggers
adding protection
to quickly wilting blooms
from outside elements
specific to weather
conditions their growth
attracting aphids
and lady bugs of all sorts
extremely precious
their care and maintenance
discard with pleasure
another flower
of distinction replaces
a roses beauty

daisies

common maybe to most
though exceptionally handsome
they grow with ease
amongst woods and prairies
no thorns to hurt
or dying in certain climates
versatile towards everyone
welcoming with its
simplicity abounds
toning the mood
complimenting many
in any arrangement
its open bloom
brings wonders
tantalizing others
teaming for more daisies

Fragrant

Standard

a rose in its fragrant aroma
fills the room with garden delights
covering the ink spread
amongst pages along side
mugs dried of drink
or cups of steaming beverages
adding to the enclosed air
upholstered chairs never washed
coats drying outside moisture
people secreting personal perfumes
as computer fans move electric dust
never overpowering
a rose in its fragrant aroma

Shattered

Standard

on impact glass resists
at the center force forms
expanding reverberations
weakening its strength
allowing a break
puncturing its stable
fused molecules
separating matter
into pieces
barely able to hold
their original form
showing cracks
blurring views
clear before
looking around
reveals a blanket
of broken shards
glass, left on the ground

Idea

Standard

whether possibly or never
jarred from its inception
it widely expands
receiving new information
revealing through assembling
everything doesn’t relate
using abilities of intelligence
allows for connections made
supporting each other as
formulating cohesive
ideas of thought
guide us through
actions of this day

Never Alone

Standard

never alone
either
here or there
knowledge
through trust
enables
combined efforts
seemingly
separated from
publicity
only can relate
solidly
when together we
communicate
making moments
unequivocally
gathering strength
progressing
more reliably
comforted
within the thought
distance
provides barriers
inconsequential
between people
melding
their worlds
ending
the idea
they’re
never alone

What does one need?

Standard

what does one need?
a couple of yachts with servants
or wood tied together
floating to ferry across.

what does one need?
restaurants with only one table
or a cart with snacks
filling our stomachs to hearts delight.

what does one need?
extended cars driven by chauffeurs
or wheels with spokes
moving around on city ways.

what does one need?
elaborate set up for selling displays
or a cloth protecting items from dirt
giving a way to live from those who create.

what does one need?
constant chatter of gossip
or silence the environment brings
providing ambiance throughout the day.

If….then

Standard

If we stood together, had no fighting
then the world would be boring

If people didn’t make fun of others
     then we would never laugh

If we didn’t help each other
     then we wouldn’t be capitalists

If we don’t judge
then how would we compare ourselves to others

If we spent today free
then there would be no government

If we play to win
then there would be no games

If we stayed in the past
then there would be no tomorrow

If we didn’t love
     then there would be war

If we were greedy
then we would have everything we need

If we think without research
     then we are always right

If we value someone based on following the crowd
     then terrible leaders were good

If we don’t do one thing
then the world will have failed

If we impose our beliefs
then the world would have no borders

If people are not part of the community
     then they don’t care

If we all believed this
     then we forgot something

Sound

Standard

Beep, beep, honk, honk
vrrrrrmmmmm
whispers of voices
all sounds infiltrating
within city streets
whir, whir, wehow, wehow
wooonnnng
lighted vehicles rushing
as they help restore calm
break the pattern
Beep, beep, honk, honk
vrrrrrmmmmm
gently murmuring
in the background
do we even hear?
